RBKV6426This is my “little finger” project – as you can see, I am a ring addict. There will be some more in the future introduced here.

I started with the angular one, having a silver “wire” with a square cross section as base material. I love the rather sturdy look of jewelry, a special mix of the fine material (sterling silver) and a kind of industrial look coming with the way of making the piece. When I bended the square wire, I used pliers, bending millimeter per millimeter, instead of using a ring tool. From the pliers, I got the structure on the ring’s surface. This effect came by accident rather than planning, but after the first shock I started liking the structured look and decided to finish the ring as it was, using the structure as a design effect.

The second ring, which I always wear with the first, has a very simple silver band made from a wire with round cross section. It is very simple and plain. Then I took a little gold chain (a bracelet I had never worn because it had some bad karma coming from the person who had given it to me) and melted part of it into a little gold pearl. Interestingly, during the melting process, some black substance separated from the liquid gold – my master goldsmith said she had never seen this happening before. My explanation is that this was the bad karma embedded in the bracelet… Anyway, when I had the little gold pearl, I soldered it onto the plain silver ring – and that was it.

Normally, I don’t really like a mix of materials. In this case, it is different. The little gold pearl with the plain ring, together with the “industrial” looking square ring are a very interesting combination which I like to wear. As a side effect, they are perfect to play with during meetings and phone conferences as they have enough detail to keep my hands busy.
