I don’t understand this. I just don’t.
Inspired by a youtube channel, set up by a professional organizer from Louisiana, and by my sister, who had recently parted from the majority of her beloved books to make room for new things, I dedicated this weekend to take care of my own overflowing book shelf.
I worked hard for two days or so, first taking all of my books out, then sorting them by type, then really, really sorting through them and letting go of many, just too many, with a bleeding heart. I was very tough against myself.
To make a long story short: I parted from approximately 3 meters of books and magazines, and seeing that big pile of good-bye candidates, I was expecting to have lots of room now to put what I wanted to keep back into the shelves.
But NO! They still don’t fit, they even seem to have grown over night while I was sleeping. I was NOT able to fit them all on the shelf, still. Even worse – I seem to need more room now.
A little soothing fact: I made all my Lonely Planet guidebooks fit onto an 88 cm shelf. From now on, I will throw one out when I buy a new one, I promise! I really promise.
