Whew! An NPWR (new personal world record) happened last night. I spent the first night of the year outdoors, in the woods, in a tent, with Pocahontas*. It is a new personal world record because it was the earliest date in the year I spent a night in a tent in Germany, ever. The last personal world record (now dethroned) was around some mid-April (let’s say 15th), many years back, at the baltic coast somewhere.

It was nice but quite hard. Hard in a double sense – first it was hard as my mattress was thin, second, it was hard as it was quite chilly, let’s call it outright… bloody cold. But it was funny, though. We had a very sunny day Sunday, hence it was fun to walk in the woods. I got a little afraid when I saw the snow still gleaming between the trees. And then this wonderful lake, deep in a little swale. It had a thin layer of ice at the surface, so that we could throw fir cones which slithered across to the other shore. Cool… if there wasn’t that fear of freezing overnight.

We did not freeze, though. But, our water bottle did. Hence, we had Easter egg(nog) on the rocks. I assume that started a new tradition to spent the Easter holidays: frozen, but happy.

* About Pocahontas: Pocahontas is the new name of my friend T. (aka Babe) who suggested, while lost in thought during our walk between the meadows: “I will open a travel business for depressives – I will take them here and make them experience… this!” – I am sure this will be a very effective cure. So, watch out for the launch of  PADT (Pocahontas Anti Depressive Travel) and book a tour right away.
