You gained a kilo or two? This is no problem at all, because here is a solution to get rid of wobbly… furniture. Because instead of trying to shed the belly fat, you could also go for stronger furniture, right? To sit afely again, I mean.
Here is a fun D.I.Y. project. I had planned to build an “industrial” style desk, but half way through it, I changed my plans and went for a tame version reusing and adapting my old one. But then, the industrial project kept sitting in my head and was not willing to being pushed out or being forgotten. Hence, to satisfy this urge, I went for an alternative object, which is, in a way, a smaller version of the originally planned desk.
The legs are constructed from pipe nipples and couplings, t-fittings, including end covers and devices meant to be used to mount pipes on a wall or ceiling – this is where the wooden seat will be mounted in the end. The length of the nipples depends on the planned height of the stool. I had to combine some different pieces, connected with couplings and tees to get to around 45 cm. Similarly, the horizontal connections are also lined up to get the desired depth and width of the stool. Everything is tightly screwed together to achieve maximum stability.
Finally, I used some scrap wood to build the seat. I connected two pieces with pocket screws to get the desired width. I also added two holes (one somewhat wider to fit my fingers, the other round to fit my thumb). This makes it easier to carry the relatively heavy stool.
So, now go and make your own. Enjoy creating the furniture you need – the principle can be applied for a bench or coffee table as well.
P.S.: Keep in mind that you cannot make closed loops as the pipes and fittings all screw in the same direction.
